This guitar is a nice little nod to those old early 30’s Gibson’s with their pearloid (or “mother of toilette seat”) fretboards and pick guards!
More specifically it’s paying homage to the 1933 “Century of Progress” world fair guitar presented by Gibson with pearloid fretboard. This Recording King example features a solid spruce top with cross lap bracing for great projection and midrange with that soulful boxy tone. The 000 body size makes it easy to reach around and wield for smaller framed folks as well. The 14-fret pearloid fretboard uses design features popularized by banjos and guitars of the era. With its blue finish to go along with it, I’m especially reminded of the Gibson Style 11 banjos and Kel Kroyden models. It’s really a neat little guitar.
