A collection of Christmas instrumentals ranging from solo performances to full bluegrass/old timey band arrangements.

”Christmas time holds some of my fondest memories.  Those gatherings in that old cabin across the creek, and the peace and joy that was shared by everyone there is something that will always stay with me.  Growing up in the Ozark hills my family never had a whole lot, so the commercialized version of Christmas was never a version I knew much about back then.  We experienced it in the most meaningful way, focusing on the real Reason for the season through fellowship and singing old Christmas carols and hymns.

Dad always had his old banjo handy, my uncle played the harmonica and sometimes picked out melodies on a lap dulcimer, and a guitar for strumming was always nearby too.  The music wasn’t really anything definable by genre, but it was honest and had real meaning.  So I wanted to make an album that recaptured some of that feeling for me, and hopefully you will feel it too.  I even recorded a small handful of the tracks on just a single instrument, in the cabin in the hills, with a mic a fair distance away so you can hear the reflections of sound off the hardwood floors and bare walls…just like how I remember it sounding in that old house of grandma’s as I sat against the wall and watched the shadows from the flickering candlelight.  I was also able to use some of those old original instruments, the same ones that were played back then in the making of these memories.

Anyway, I hope you find some enjoyment in this project, because it sure was a special process for me to be able to put it together.  And maybe while listening you can take a trip with me down memory lane, and meditate on the real and important things concerning Christmas.”  -Jake Stogdill
