Pre-Owned Stelling Maple Golden Cross Old Wood Rim 5-String Bluegrass Banjo with Case

This particular banjo came through Bill Emerson to a customer of ours who was thinning down his collection!  It’s just exquisite!  The condition is just superb (with a little head and armrest wear from play) and the workmanship is 100% Stelling…which is to say, as perfect as possible.  The pictures tell it all, and as you can see there’s a lot of custom engraving work on this one which is simply breathtaking.  This one makes us buckle at the knees.  The overall appearance is just striking, and the tone and playability rival anything we have ever picked on.  

Especially noteworthy is the checkerboard binding inlays.  Banjos simply weren’t made to look any better than this.  

As far as sound goes...the Golden Cross, like all Stellings, is a breeze to play and rings out with even with the slightest touch. And when really digging in, it seems to have an unlimited amount of power. This maple banjo has a rich tone and a crisp attack, with great balance across the strings. The notes up the neck even have an unsurpassed amount of depth and power.  Overall, Stelling’s fit and finish is second to none!  The hardshell case is a deluxe heavy-duty TKL emerald green crushed velvet plush lined case with a steel forged leather wrapped handle.
