If you want to sound like J.D. Crowe, these strings are a good step in that direction. You'll also need the best instruments money can buy, years and years of experience with the worlds top musicians, more practice time than most humans can spare, countless hours in front of a mirror making sure your right hand looks like his "claw"...well, you get the idea.

Honestly though, these are wonderful strings which really do aid in achieving that deep, dry, springy tone for which J.D. is so well known.

  • J.D. Crowe's preferred gauges for the stage
  • Stainless Steel with extra large loop ends, 42" winding
  • Signature Gauges: .010-.011-.012-.020w-.010

Light is right

My open back banjo has some pretty thick strings when I got it and I found them hard to play. These are light, easy to play, and they sound great. Happy with this choice

Low inventory

Good but it looks like the store is out of stock on many items. Supply chain problems maybe??
