Once again, I'm holding BANJO CAMP in Texas! We're gonna have a ball. Expect a Texas-sized time with plenty of brisket BBQ & bluegrass!

LOCATION:Banjo Ben's farm near Kilgore, Texas!

PRICE:$899 each, with supper guest passes available for purchase for all 3 days!

INSTRUMENTS:3 Finger Bluegrass Banjo (Scruggs-style) & Clawhammer Banjo (see Skill Level details below)

INSTRUCTORS: Alan Munde, Bill Evans, Kristin Scott Benson, Katy Lou Clark, Dave Dillard (clawhammer) and Banjo Ben. 

Skill Level: All skill levels welcome! There are 4 levels for bluegrass banjo: beginner, tweener, intermediate, and advanced. All Scruggs-style students will get time with all bluegrass banjo instructors! No prior banjo knowledge or experience necessary for the clawhammer class.

Beginner: Someone who is learning rolls & chord shapes with questions about basic fundamentals of banjo playing. They have little to no knowledge of banjo backup, and may have learned just a few banjo tunes to date.

Tweener: This is someone with a grasp on rolls & chord shapes, having learned a few tunes, but speed is still lacking. Banjo backup knowledge is basic, but able to follow along with songs once the chord progression is known. 

Intermediate: Able to play at moderate pace, beginning to improvise, incorporate licks, and provide adequate banjo backup during jams. 

Advanced: Able to play along with most any tune in a jam, knowledgeable of banjo neck theory, and a sizable library of banjo tunes under their belt.

Atmosphere: This camp is an intimidation-free zone! All are welcome, and you're made to feel like family from the first step onto my farm!

Preparation:I will help you prepare! I'll send you some tunes we'll be working on, as well as other tips to get you ready.

The price is $899, which includes:

• Small group sessions and personal attention!
• 6 excellent meals!

Price does not include:

• Lodging, which is amply available at nearby hotels & campgrounds. 
• Breakfasts for the 3 days. 
• Travel to/from Kilgore

Cancelation policy:All cancelations will incur a 3.5% processing fee. There will be a $250 cancelation fee beginning on July 31, 2025; no refunds after August 31, 2025. If for some reason the event is not able to be held, refunds will be given to those who cannot reschedule.

FAQs: 

1. Can I bring my family or friends? You may purchase supper guests passes. These guests will be welcome to join us for supper around 6PM and after-supper activities. They will not be able to attend the camp during the day. 
2. Should I fly or drive? That's up to you! The closest airport to the farm is KGGG in Longview, TX, and is an American Eagle destination. We are also 2 hours east of DFW & Love Field.
3. What happens if it rains? I have facilities that will accommodate ;) 
4. What will the weather be like? Might be a little chilly, but it'll be beautiful!
5. Can I bring more than one instrument? You can, but you'll need to commit to one instrument for the learning portion of the camp. When it comes to jamming, you can play whatever you want!
