Eastman MDO305 A-Style Octave Mandolin With Case

In our opinion, this is one of the most affordable ways to get into a professional quality “octave mandolin” which will satisfy the needs of even the most demanding players!

What is an “octave mandolin” you may ask?  It’s essentially just a bigger mandolin tuned a whole octave lower.  So the strings are still tuned to the same notes, and the chords you play are still the same chords you’re already used to, but the tone is deeper and bassier!

This one is in the same class as Eastman’s 300 series Mandolins which are so highly regarded for their materials, tone, playability, and craftsmanship.  All solid spruce and maple construction, radiused ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut, etc.  These play very comfortably and have a very rich tone with lots of volume and projection.  It certainly adds some variety and is a nice compliment in any band or jam situation.
