my “G” string buzzes when held down in the 2nd fret and less in the 3rd fret. You said that would be a saddle problem. How do I correct that?

If you determine that the nut isn’t the problem, is it always the saddle, or could you possibly have a fret that isn’t seated properly or maybe just a snurch too high?

“Yet another great tip for us all. I’d consider myself an advanced learner on the banjo, and with my limited experience I have heard a difference in my banjo. I’ve checked the head tension with my Drumdial and that is grand. I’ll now check the nut and see if that makes a difference. Thanks guys for another great tech tip & keep up the great work”.

If you were replacing a nut or were adjusting the action at the nut where it is too high overall, how would you measure the action and what measurements would you shoot for? This assumes that the frets are properly leveled and there is a proper amount of relief in the neck for the strings used and playing style.
