I often tell folks that the Martin Authentic series guitars are among my favorite new instruments. The reason being that if you could get in a time machine and go back and buy a pre-war martin, this is nearly exactly what you’d get. But, they are expensive, usually fetching near $7000 new. Well here is a nearly new condition pre-owned model for less than half of that price!
This one is really clean. Virtually no fret wear, the neck looks great, no cracks or damage to speak of, except for a very shallow scratch mark on the back of the neck (pictured.) The action is still set to Martin factory specs (also pictured,) and it’s a dream to play and hear. The tone is truly phenomenal! The case is not the original case, but it’s very similar and has a Martin emblem on the side. Just these couple of very minor aesthetic issues are why this guitar is priced so affordably...trust me, you won’t want to miss out on this one.
Martin Authentics are constructed the old way - with hide glue, throughout, and historically-accurate detailing confirmed by using a CAT scan machine located at the Smithsonian Institute. Based on a 1939 D-18 in Martin’s museum, this guitar features genuine mahogany back and sides, an Adirondack spruce top, using an authentic circa 1939 bracing pattern. Period-correct "18" Authentic-style appointments, with an Authentic neck profile and heel, complete this piece. Even the thin hand applied finish is period correct. Truly a gorgeous piece of craftsmanship!
Ships for free within the Lower 48 US and includes pro setup, strap button, and Hardshell case!
