Sullivan was throughly involved with the production of true Gibson Mastertone banjos of the era.  So in essence what you have here is very much the same, but with some stylistic differences. Maple resonator and neck with beautiful figuring, three ply maple rim with full cast tone ring and one piece flange, as well as a dual coordinator rod construction.  It has a good crisp tone with that maple “Mastertone” growl, plenty loud and responsive with good sustain.  Condition is fairly average, nothing to write home about there really.  It’s been played a lot, but structurally it’s good to go for another 100,000 miles.  This banjo is a great instrument for someone wanting an American made Gibson style banjo, but doesn’t want the price  tag that comes with a Gibson banjo.  And you don’t see too many banjos in this nice dark cherry color either.  Very cool!
